Repurposing the former XSite indoor ski slope at Braehead has been one of our most distinctive projects to date.
From decommissioning the slope through to preparing the building for its next use, the scheme combined specialist demolition, structural works, and fit-out within a complex existing building. Working alongside an experienced project team, we’ve helped transform an unusual space into one that’s ready for its next life.
A unique starting point
Before we could begin redevelopment, we needed to safely decommission the indoor ski slope. That meant carefully melting and removing around 13,500m³ of ice before stripping the facility back to create a blank canvas for construction.
Although much of this work happened behind the scenes, it was one of the most technically demanding stages of the project. Careful planning and coordination allowed the process to be completed safely while preparing the building for the works that followed.
Breaking new ground
With the ski slope removed, attention turned to the building’s new foundations. Piling works began alongside Roger Bullivant Limited, while excavations, pile cropping, reinforcement installation with Reilly Reinforcements, and ground beam construction steadily reshaped the site.
Boarding and blockwork followed, marking the point where the redevelopment moved from preparation into construction. We sequenced each stage carefully to allow multiple trades to work efficiently while keeping the programme moving forward.
A new future takes shape
As the structure developed, work shifted inside the building. The installation of the gas membrane and slab preparation laid the foundations for the next phase, before internal wall boarding, fire protection, and door installations began with Interplan Panel Systems and ARC Fire Safety & Security Ltd.
Electrical installations also progressed alongside the wider fit-out, bringing together several specialist trades as the building continued its transformation. Throughout the project, our role has been to coordinate each stage, maintaining momentum while delivering a space ready for its future use.

From one of Scotland’s most recognisable indoor attractions to a modern commercial development, this project demonstrates how thoughtful planning and collaboration can unlock new opportunities for existing buildings. As works continue, the redevelopment is steadily bringing new life to a landmark site.
