A sustainable approach to construction
We are committed to driving more sustainable construction, starting with our internal processes. Our head office now uses 100% sustainably sourced electricity, and we’ve invested in fuel-efficient machinery to reduce e missions, minimise deadhead loads, and create backhaul opportunities wherever possible.
Sustainability extends beyond our operations. From design to construction, we aim to minimise environmental and community impact. For example, our warehouse extension for the Tandem Group in Birmingham is BREEAM Excellent rated. Initial earthworks used minimal imported or exported material, with any imported material recycled demolition waste.
We’ve also invested in a photovoltaic (PV) generator, converting sunlight into clean energy for use across our projects — a renewable resource that avoids air or water pollution and supports our sustainable construction approach. These initiatives are part of our wider commitment to leaving a positive legacy for both the environment and the communities in which we work.
Supporting The local community
Many of the organisations we work with are increasingly focused on promoting sustainable practices and encouraging green living among their staff. As a result, our recent building designs often include features that have a lasting positive impact on the people who use them.
For example, at Sovereign Quay in Leeds, we installed bike storage and changing facilities in the basement as part of the developer’s Sustainability and Green Transport initiative. Similarly, at Lookers VW, we added multiple EV charging points in line with Lookers PLC’s wider sustainability strategy.
